To those concerned that the U.S. may have missed some enriched uranium during the strikes on Iran: even if a small amount of nuclear material wasn’t accounted for, the operation is still a strategic win. Dirty bombs pose a threat, yes (for sure) but they’re far less dangerous than fully operational intercontinental missiles armed with nuclear warheads, both of which Iran was pursuing. That said, it's unlikely anything significant was missed. Moving enriched material is complex, and the U.S. possesses advanced radiation detection capabilities (from high-altitude aircraft to satellite surveillance) making covert transfers extremely difficult to conceal.
And for those wondering whether Iran could quietly continue enriching uranium elsewhere, it’s not that simple. Uranium enrichment requires a massive infrastructure footprint: thousands of centrifuges, a steady power supply, extensive cooling systems, and often access to heavy water or advanced gas centrifuge technology. Add to that secure facilities for storing and handling radioactive materials. All of these components are large, energy-intensive, and nearly impossible to hide from modern surveillance and international inspectors.
IMO, Trump is doing a fine job threading the needle. His posturing, showing strength is reducing the likelihood that this will escalate into a larger conflict. Anything can happen, but I’m far more confident with Trump at the helm than I would be with a Kamala Harris.
